Email Assignment
About email assignment
Applicants typically have user accounts automatically created upon either acceptance or deposit. The email associated with this individual will be the email entered on the application.
You may wish for Campus Cafe to automatically assign an institution-issued email to the individual upon creation of their Campus Cafe username and password. If this option is turned on, the system will assign an email address using the user's username followed by your domain (e.g. yourschool.edu).
This process merely assigns the email address to the individual in Campus Cafe. It does not create an email address for the individual in your email system. Campus Cafe is not an email provider.

Turn on and configure automatic email assignment
Go to Admin > Custom Control.
In Search enter SYUSSTMAIL.
Next to Program Id SYUSSTMAIL, Sequence 1, Parameter 1 click the pencil.
Parameter Value 1: Enter the email domain (e.g. yourschool.edu) Do not include the @ character. Leave blank to not have the email automatically assigned.
Parameter Value 2: Enter Y if this institution email will become the preferred email address upon user creation. All workflows/activities configured to send only to preferred email will now send only to this address. Otherwise enter N.
Parameter Value 3: Enter Y if this institution email will become the preferred email address if the user changes permission groups. This often occurs if an applicant is accepted or places a deposit to attend. All workflows/activities that send emails will now be sent only to this address. Otherwise enter N.
Parameter Value 4: Enter Y to automatically assign the institution’s domain you set in value 1 to all usernames created through the application process. This may be required if you use an outside identity provider. Otherwise enter N.
Parameter Value 5: Enter a comma separated list of degree status codes. When a student's degree status is set to one of these codes and a student has a preferred email ending in the value specified in Parameter Value 1, the student's preferred email will change to his or her most recently updated email that does not end in the Parameter Value 1 value. This setting applies overnight.
In a common example, you may wish to do this when a student withdraws (degree status of W) or graduates (degree status of Y) and no longer has access to their school address.
For example, in Parameter 1 is yourschool.edu. In Parameter 5 is W. Student Jean-Luc has a preferred email jeanluc@yourschool.edu and non-preferred email of space@starfleet.com. Jean-Luc withdraws and his degree status changes to W from A. The system will set his preferred email to space@starfleet.com instead of jeanluc@yourschool.edu.Parameter Value 6: Leave blank for auto assignment of email. Enter N to explicitly not automatically assign an email when a user is created.
