About Alumni Placements and Organizations
Through its relationship system, Campus Cafe allows institutions to track student placements whether internships or jobs. Placements can be tied to an organization such as a company or to a specific individual.
Organizations
Campus Cafe recommends adding employers as organizations. This will allow reporting by employer.
Add organization
Navigate to All Users > Add Non-StudentOrg
Click Change to Organization
Enter the organization's information
Click Add; a new screen appears
In the Primary Constituent Code box choose an organization type. These codes are defined in STParm MMCONS
Click Submit
Update an organization
Navigate to Alum/Dev > Org Finder
Use the filters to find the organization
Next to the organization to edit, click Launch Org
Navigate to Person Selected >
Bios to update the contact individual's name
Address/Phones to update the organization's name, address or phone
Email Address to update the email
Organization Contact Name
The name organization's primary contact can be stored with the organization's record and later shown on Organization Finder by selecting contact name from the column visibility button.
Navigate to the organization
Click the organization's ID number
Update the First and Last name
Click Save
Record a Placement
Navigate to the individual
Click Relationships on the navigation bar
Click Relationships
To associate the placement with a prior defined organization or individual click Lookup Person OR Lookup Org box to launch a search window. This is recommended. Alternatively, leave blank to create a an ad hoc relationship.
Check the Add Reciprocal Relation? to ensure that the employer is also associated with the student
In the Add Relation Type drop down choose EMP - Employer
Click Add Relationship; a new screen appears
For purposes of internship or job placement, the following fields are recommended to be completed:
Placement date: The date the student secured the placement
Hours Per Week: The number of hours the student is working
Hourly Rate: The student's hourly pay rate
Salary: The student's salary
Verification Source: How the institution knows about the placement
Job Duties: A description of the student's responsibilities
Related Field: Indicates whether the placement is related the student's education
Click Save
View Placements
Placements can be viewed multiple ways depending on the business case.
View Placements by Organization
Navigate to Alum/Dev > Org Finder
Use the filters to find the organization
Next to the organization to edit, click Launch Org
Click Relationships on the navigation bar
Individuals associated with the organization appear below; click Relationships for a more detailed list
View Placements Though Student Finder
The student or alumni finder allows the capturing of a specific population based on criteria you set in the filters.
Navigate to Filters > Students or Filters > Alumni
Click Expand Filters
Locate the Relationship Type filter
Tip: If this box is not shown, in the upper right click Hide/Show Fields and check the box next to Relationship Type and click ApplyIn the Relationship Type box enter the relationship type. To see a list of options click the three-bar menu to the right. For example, you may choose employer to see a list of the students' employers
Click Submit
Above the results, click the Column Visibility button and click the Relationship Person to show the column containing the student's employer
View List of Placements Through Base Reports
Navigate to Faculty/Staff > Base Reports
Click Placement Reports
Choose the report. Note that some reports require that you first return the desired population in student finder and then transfer the IDs to the report system by clicking +Reports
