Constituent Finder
About constituent finder
Using the Constituent Finder you can search for constituents and related individuals that meet certain criteria. Constituents don’t necessarily need to be students who actually graduated. You may consider individuals who completed a certain percentage of your program constituents or those without formal degrees constituents.
Prerequisites
Individuals appear in the constituent finder only if they are marked as constituents.

Search on both current and former last name
A student may change their name during their career with you or after they graduate. If on their profile you record this new name and move their past name to the Former Name, you can tell Campus Cafe to search for both the individual’s current and former name when using the ConstituentFinder. This can be helpful if you’re unsure which name is associate with the individual in Campus Cafe.
Go to Admin > Custom Control.
In Search enter FORMERFIND.
Click the pencil.
In Parameter Value 1 enter Y.
Click Save.
Go to Admin > Refresh Data Cache.
Search on individuals and organizations
You can tell Campus Cafe to have the ConstituentFinder also search organizations. This is helpful if you have organizations that donate to your institution or otherwise support you. An organization’s name will populate in the “Last Name” column by design - the account’s first and last name fields being empty, the system populates last name with the Employer name field, keeping results aligned.
Go to Admin > Custom Control.
In Search enter ALUMFINDER.
Click the pencil.
In Parameter Value 1 enter Y.
Click Save.
Go to Admin > Refresh Data Cache.
Go to constituent finder
Go to Filters > Constituent.
You can use filters to select the criteria of which Constituent to return. To see or hide filters, click Add Fields and select those filters to show. See People Finder documentation for additional details o how to set criteria and work with results.
Constituent finder special actions
Find spouses of Constituent
You can use the Constituent Finder to search for the first or last name of the spouse of an alum.
Go to Filters > Constituent.
Under Build Filters click Add Fields.
In Search enter spouse.
Select (check) Spouse In First and Last Name Search Boxes.
Click Apply.
In the First Name and/or Last Name boxes enter the name of a spouse.
Click Submit.
Send results to other finders
After you return a group of constituents, the user can send the results to Gift Finder to connect information on constituents with their donations. To do so, select a population of constituents shown on the constituent finder, and click Send Selected to Gift Finder > For All.. Additionally, the user can send the results from the Constituent finder to the Student Finder by selecting a population of constituents from the results, and selecting Send Selected to Student Finder.
